Why did your Art Dubai 2016 commission Plot (Recto/Verso) feel right for Dubai? “The art scene in Dubai offers a huge national platform. The commission was the beginning of an ongoing series where I document the moment when a luxury real-estate billboard in Dubai with the image of Donald Trump was replaced after his controversial remarks on US immigration.”
Why is Dubai an exciting place for an artist? “I felt supported and energized by the organizers, curators and artists who helped create my project in Dubai. I look at the expansion of cities — that makes Dubai an interesting place to exhibit.”

What’s your favourite thing to do in Dubai? “The gallery district Al Quoz is exciting. I especially like its programming of galleries—like Isabelle Van Den Eynde, Grey Noise, Green Art Gallery and Warehouse Projects—that show an intelligent range of artists from Dubai and other continents.”
